Teeland Indoor Flying

Hi Gang,

 

I just got word from the Teeland Middle School Facilities Manager that all non-shool activities have been cancelled for January, February, and March.   We are a non-school activity so we are cancelled.

 

The Mat-Su School Board has determined that a number of High School Gyms were damaged in the "Quake" and will not be used until repairs can be made.  The Teeland Gym was not damaged and will be used for many High School activities from now through the end of March.

 

Sorry to have to bring such bad news, but there just isn't anyway around this.

 

If anybody has any ideas where we can fly, please let us know.  Maybe a church or something.

 

I will remain in touch with the facilities manager and will keep everyone in the loop if there are any changes to the schedule.

No Flying at Teeland

Hi Gang,

 

I just got word from the Teeland Facilities manager and she says there will not be any flying in the Teeland Gym for the entire month of December while they adjust to many still unknown issues from the earthquake.

 

I will keep you updated as soon as I find out anything.

Looks like Teeland may be closed tonight!

I sure hope everybody is ok now!. 

 

Teeland has cancelled school bus service and is asking parents to pick up their kids today.  So it looks like our plans for flying tonight are trashed.........  like my kitchen, bathroom, living room and office.  I have broken glass everywhere and it is just a mess.

Thanksgiving school vacation-No flying at Teeland this Friday Night

Just a reminder that there will be no flying at Teeland this Friday Night.  However, there will be indoor flying at Begich Middle School tomorrow (Wednesday) night from 6:30 - 8:30.  If you are unsure about getting to Begich Middle School just give me a call @907 441-5533 and I will give you instructions.

Looks like we are going to have a fun evening at Teeland this Friday night.  We have the Gym from 6pm to 9pm. Oh, BTW, the school called an electrican and he got the big curtain up so we can have the whole gym to fly in again.  TaDa.........

Scale Contest at Teeland This Friday Night!

Well, finally the long awaited indoor scale contest will be held this Friday night.  Pilots should be there a bit before 6pm if you can so you'll have time to get ready.  Don Meyer will be the CD.  If you have any questions please call Don @ (907) 242-3915.

Friday crept up on me pretty quickly this week, so sorry about being a bit late with the weekly update.  Anyway, we will be flying tonight in the Teeland Gym from 6-9pm.  Make sure your battries are charged and eveything is ready for a night of flying fun.

 

BTW, for thoes of you that are in Anchorage, the Begich Gym is open to us on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 8:30pm.

Flying at Teeland this Friday, September 7th

WOW.....  I can't believe it, but summer is pretty much over!!!!!  I think for the most part it just got washed away.

 

This Friday the 7th, will be our first of the season indoor flying session.  Our first scale contest of the season will be on October 5th,  and that is coming up pretty fast so it's time to get your scale airplane ready pretty soon.

 

I am looking forward to spending some time with each and everyone of you this Friday night from 6-9pm at the Teeland Gym.

As stated in previous posts, I was able to secure two additional indoor sessions at Teeland.  We will be able to fly tomorrow night and next Friday night.

 

These last two sessions will be our last chance to brush up on our flying skills before the Summer Season kicks off.

NEWS FLASH!

Hi Gang,

 

Special Report:

 

I have been working with the Matsu School Board on our next years schedule.  As a result we have Friday nights between September 7th, 2018 through May 10th, 2019 on the schedule.  Sweet!

 

In additional I have been able to secure two more Friday night session this year.  We are now on the schedule for Friday night May 4th and Friday night May 11th.  This will give us two more nights to practice for the Summer outdoor flying.  Nice!

 

That means we will have two more sessions after tonights session.

Friday night Flying at Teeland

Hi Gang,

 

We are on for this Friday night at the Teeland Gym for some fun flying.

 

I just got a note from the Teeland Facility Manager.  See Below.

 

I just wanted to let you know that this Friday, April 27^th there is going to be a Birchtree Concert in the

cafeteria from 5pm – 9pm and could you please have everyone go through the back door and

use only the gym bathrooms. Thanks so much.

 

I told her we can handle this without any problem.  She just doesn't want us to be walking down the hallway.

 

Also, for some reason there are two more Friday nights open before Teeland closes for the Summer.  I will see if I can

get these two dates on the schedule for us.  I'll let everybody know what the Matsu School Board says about this.

If you missed the Indoor Contest last week.... then.... Ba...Humbug to ya!.  Everybody that was there had a blast.  Don Meyer the "CD" pulled the Comp off perfectly (as always).  I think Don wil give a complete run down of the Comp at the next "ARCS" meeting.

Finally it's time for the Indoor Scale Contest at Teeland this Friday night April 6th.  Make double sure your airplanes are ready and your batteries are charged.  We are going to have a super fun time and get to see some really cool indoor scale airplanes.

Flying at Teeland this week

Hi Gang,

 

We will be flying and having lots of fun tomorrow night at the Teeland Gym.  Also, tomorrow night will be the first Wheel Chair Games of the season in the small gym from 6-7pm.  This event is for kids who are growing up confined to a wheel chair.  I asked some of our flyiers if they were willing to help with the kids if needed and I got an overwhelming yes.  I don't think it will be needed but I for one will sure be glad to help the kids anyway I can.

We Are Flying This Friday at Teeland

Hi Gang,

 

Yes, we are flying at Teeland this Friday night so get those batteries charged and be there for a fun night of flying.

 

Beginning Febuary 2nd the small gym will be used for Wheel Chair games for kids of all ages who are growing up comfined to a Wheel Chair between 6 and 7 pm.  After that the gym is ours.

 

Saturday, I attended the annual ARCS planning committee meeting.  ARCS is planning an indoor scale contest to take place April 6th beginning at 6:30pm in the main gym.  In the past the indoor scale contests have been a lot of fun for all.  Competition can be pretty stiff so if you are interested you better start planning and building now.  Don Meyers will be the CD and Bob Stephens will be the CO-CD.  Questions reguarding this fun event should be directed to Don Meyers (907) 242-3915 or Bob Stephens (907) 440-0478.

Flying at Teeland This Friday Night!
